🛒Ingredients
For the Scorpion Spicy Mustard
-
½ cup yellow mustard seeds
-
¼ cup brown mustard seeds
-
1 cup apple cider vinegar
-
½ cup water
-
3 tbsp Melinda’s Hot Honey
-
1 tsp turmeric
-
2 tbsp Blazing Star Scorpion Rub
For the Beer Brats
-
6 bratwurst sausages
-
1 tbsp butter
-
1 large onion, sliced
-
1 tbsp Blazing Star Beef Rub
-
1–2 cans beer (lager or light ale works great)
-
Brat buns, for serving
🔥Instructions
-
Make the Scorpion Mustard:
In a bowl, soak yellow and brown mustard seeds in apple cider vinegar and water for 24–48 hours.
Blend the soaked seeds with Hot Honey, turmeric, and Scorpion Rub until smooth.
Transfer to a jar and refrigerate for at least 48 hours to let the flavors develop.
-
Cook the Brats:
In a cast iron skillet, melt butter and sear the brats on all sides until browned. Remove from the pan.
-
Sauté the Onions:
In the same pan, add sliced onions and season with Beef Rub. Cook until caramelized.
-
Simmer in Beer:
Return brats to the pan, pour in enough beer to float them, and simmer gently until the sausages are fully cooked and juicy.
-
Assemble & Serve:
Place brats on toasted buns, top with caramelized onions, and drizzle generously with Scorpion Spicy Mustard. Serve hot and enjoy!
💡Pro Tips
-
The longer your mustard rests, the bolder and more balanced the flavor.
-
Use a malty or amber beer for richer depth.
-
Want extra spice? Add a pinch of Reaper Rub to the onions while sautéing.
