From Service to Smoke

Blazing Star BBQ was founded by Mike Starr, a 21-year United States Air Force veteran whose travels around the world created a lifelong appreciation for different cultures, foods and flavors.

After the Air Force, Mike turned that experience and his passion for outdoor cooking into Blazing Star BBQ. What began as a personal pursuit of better barbecue became a veteran-owned brand built around bold, balanced flavors that work just as well in the kitchen as they do at the grill or smoker.

Flavor Without Borders

Blazing Star BBQ does not follow a single regional barbecue style. The sauces and seasonings draw inspiration from Mike’s global travels and combine familiar barbecue flavors with multicultural ingredients and influences.

The goal is simple: create products that bring something different to the table without overpowering the food. From sugar-free everyday seasonings and award-winning rubs to balanced barbecue sauces and serious chile pepper heat, every product is designed with flavor first.

From a Small Veteran-Owned Business to National Retailers

Blazing Star BBQ products have grown from a small independent brand into a nationally available product line. Our sauces and seasonings can be found through major retailers including The Home Depot, Ace Hardware, Bass Pro Shops, Cabela’s, Scheels and Rural King, along with independent barbecue stores and specialty retailers across the country.

Pork’n Rub earned First Place Chicken Rub in the 2023 Barbecue News Magazine Rubs of Honor, along with recognition in other national barbecue competitions. Those honors support what customers, cooks and retailers continue to discover: Blazing Star BBQ products are versatile, distinctive and made to deliver flavor.

Mike does more than put his name on the bottles. He develops recipes, demonstrates the products in stores and at events, creates cooking content and works alongside respected cooks and brands throughout the barbecue community.

His experience includes appearing on Food Network’s BBQ USA, participating in national barbecue events and sharing recipes and cooking ideas with hundreds of thousands of followers across Facebook, Instagram, TikTok and YouTube.
